K Metro Goes Fare-Free

Kalamazoo Metro recently announced that they would be going fare-free in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak. Now, timed stops are being reduced on each route. Starting on March 25, buses will run once per hour. Metro says the hours of operation are roughly equivalent to hourly service provided on Saturdays. Even with reduced stop times, passengers are still expected to follow established guidelines. Passengers will continue to board and exit from the rear door and will not be required to pay a fare. Officials also say the transit system should be used only for essential trips to minimize the amount of contact with others and the community in order for the buses to continue operating.
