In January, 1981, SARA hosted a Prose & Poetry contest, and when we found this old newsletter digging through the archives over holiday break, we couldn't resist revisiting this ghost of SARA past to reconnect with neighbors.​​

Writing Guidelines

  • ​Do focus on the Stuart neighborhood, and write in response to the prompt, "What does Stuart mean to me?"
  • DO write in any poetic style or short story format you choose.
  • DO have fun. We're excited to see what you come up with.
  • DON'T plagarize. All submissions must be the original work of the person entering the contest.

Prizes & Eligibility

  • The SARA board of directors will select one prize-winning entry from each age group: Kids (up to 10 years), Teens (10-17 years), and Adults (18-infinity).
  • Entries become property of the Stuart Area Restoration Association and may be used in published promotional or social media materials. Authors will be credited.
  • The contest is open to all members of the Stuart Area Restoration Association (neighborhood residents, property owners, or people working in the neighborhood), with the exception of the Association Board of Directors and members of their households.
  • Members of the SARA board of directors and their households are welcome to participate, but they will not be eligible to win.
